Boink @ The Wilmington Arms, Saturday 19th July, 7pm – 11pm
Boink is a new live music night hosted by Ear Music and Beat Happening Magazine, celebrating new up-and-coming London acts with an ear for twisted pop music.
The first Boink features:
Screaming Tea Party – This trio flit between ferocious angular punk and twee, melodic pop music, creating a dynamic that will at once obliterate and caress your ear drums.
Agaskodo Teliverek – With a happy hardcore/surf guitar hybrid sound termed by Agaskodo Teliverek (Hungarian for ‘Rearing Stallions’) as ‘Psycho Goulah’, they’ll make you dance ‘til you drop.
Artefacts For Space Travel – Along with Screaming Tea Party and the likes of Pete & The Pirates, the psych-grunge oddballs Artefacts are helping to establish Stolen Recordings as one of the most exciting new indie labels in the UK.
Pevin Kinel – One quarter of the prog-krautrock beast that is Velofax, Pevin Kinel’s solo act involves beat boxing, a loop pedal, and a sack full of instruments ranging from a clarinet to a kazoo.
Art Brut (DJ Set) – Eddie Argos and co, the men behind ‘Emily Kane’ and ‘Formed a Band’, will be spinning the wheels of steel, with tunes ranging from old school rock n’ blues to cutting-edge indie.
